NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Christopher Newport University field hockey team is set to play Rhodes College on Sunday at 12:00pm at Captains Field. This will be the first meeting of the Captains and Lynx since 2005 where the Captains came out on top 2-1 in penalty strokes.

Rhodes is set to open their season against Randolph-Macon College at Captains Field on Saturday September 4 at 10:30am. They are coming off a 13-4 season in 2009 and graduated four seniors. They have an experienced squad this year with eight seniors and five juniors including All American midfielder Charlie Wagner.

CNU returned their top two goal scorers in Taylor Harrell and Katelyn Yandle and their entire starting midfield from 2009. The Captains are coming off a 5-1 win over Randolph-Macon College where sophomore midfielder Caitlin Cahill and senior defender Yandle each scored a pair of goals. Also scoring for the Captains was freshman forward Meghan Sullivan.
