#8 Field Hockey Heading to the Beach to Take on Virginia Wesleyan

CNU field hockey has not allowed a goal against Virginia Wesleyan in three years

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Captains are taking on the Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan College tonight at the National Training Center in Virginia Beach. This will be the eighth meeting of the two teams. CNU currently leads the series 4-3. The Marlins traveled to Captains Field in 2009 and CNU came out on top 5-0.

CNU is 6-1 with their only loss coming from then-ranked #1 Salisbury University. VWC is currently 0-7.

The Captains are led by Katelyn Yandle (Portsmouth, Va.) with six goals and one assist. Ten other players have at least one goal for CNU. Junior Brianna Milne (Virginia Beach, Va.) has two defensive saves and had CNU's lone goal in their victory over then-ranked #15 Lynchburg College. CNU goalkeeper junior Brittany Bradsher (Hampton, Va.) has 39 saves, three shutouts and a 0.41 goals against average.

Taylor Lober leads the Marlins with seven points from three goals and one assist. Taylor Harding and Tara White both have three defensive saves and Marlin goalkeeper Chelsea Baker has 66 saves in the cage.

CNU looks to earn their fourth shutout of the season as they take on Virginia Wesleyan at 5:00pm.
