#8 Field Hockey Runs Over Frostburg 4-1

Katelyn Yandle scores two goals to lead the Captains

Box Score NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Christopher Newport University field hockey team got their sixth win of the season as they rolled by Frostburg State 4-1 on a sunny afternoon at Captains Field. The loss drops Frostburg to 2-7  on the year.

The Captains started their second game of the weekend with a goal just three minutes into play. Senior defender Katelyn Yandle (Portsmouth, Va.) crossed the ball to senior Taylor Harrell (Virginia Beach, Va.) who was in position at the post to put the ball into the back of the cage.

The Captains continued to dominate the play and Yandle scored her fifth goal of the season diving for a pass from freshman Marlene Lichty (Chesapeake, Va.) just ten minutes later.

The Bobcats left a forward very high, behind CNU's defense, that paid off at 25:02 as Lindsey Frost received a pass and dribbled into the circle, pulled past CNU goalkeeper Brittany Bradsher (Hampton, Va.) and put the ball in the goal making the score 2-1 where it stayed until the end of the first half.

Four minutes into the second half CNU extended their lead with a goal from junior defender Brianna Milne (Virginia Beach, Va.) off a pass from senior forward Emma Mehrabi (Fredericksburg, Va.).

Yandle scored her second goal of the game off a pass from senior Stephanie Bair (Virginia Beach, Va.) to end the scoring for the game at 56:43.

The Captains return to action as they travel to the National Training Center in Virginia Beach to take on the Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan College. Game time is set for 5:00pm.
