Field Hockey Blanks McDaniel, 3-0

Three players score as the Captains defeat McDaniel

Box Score VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - In their first game of two at the National Training Center this weekend the Captains defeated McDaniel College with a score of 3-0. The win gives CNU their first road victory of the season and improves their record to 3-1 and drops McDaniel to 1-2.

Score remained an even 0-0 until CNU was awarded a penalty stroke after the McDaniel goalkeeper covered the ball with her body. CNU sophomore Sarah Wister (Yorktown, Va.) took her first stroke of the season and put it in the back of the cage giving CNU the 1-0 lead with just 8:38 left in the first half.

Kelsey Rigby (Falmouth, Ma.) scored her first goal of the season less than three minutes into the second half putting the Captains up by two. With 23 minutes left in the game Chrissy Kurecki (Richmond, Va.) found the back of the cage for the Captains' third and final goal of the game.

CNU goalkeeper Brittany Bradsher (Hampton, Va.) made five saves earning her second shutout of the season.

CNU returns to the National Training Center in Virginia Beach tomorrow for a contest against Stevenson University with a game time of 1:00 pm. This will be the second time the Captains have ever squared off against the Mustangs with the last meeting in 2009 where the Captains won 2-1.
