Box Score NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - A ten-run first inning by CNU was a prelude to an 18-2 victory over Gallaudet Monday at Captains Park.

CNU's first five hitters got hits and the Captains had a 4-0 lead before anyone was out. Luke Saunders crushed a two-run homer as the third batter of the game. Shannon Mark singled as the leadoff hitter and was driven home by Drue Vernon's double before Saunders hit his home run. Vernon and Parker Neal each had two-run doubles in the first and Neal added a three-run homer in the fourth.

Mark finished 3-3 with a double and two RBIs. Neal was 3-4 with two doubles, the home run and four RBIs. Vernon was 2-3 with a pair of RBIs. Saunders went 2-3 with a double and three RBIs, while Steven Lindemuth, Shayne Kersey and Joey Martin had two hits apiece.

The Captains are now 16-10 and visit Randolph-Macon tomorrow at 3 p.m.
