CNU Women's Lacrosse Earns Fifth Straight USA South Tourney Title

Box Score BURLINGTON, NC – Christopher Newport women's lacrosse defeated Greensboro, 19-9, in the USA South Championship game. The Captains were lead by junior Kaitlyn Quigley with six goals and two assists and freshman Rachel Tomlinson with five goals.

Greensboro struck first just two minutes into the game with a goal from Ashley Nolen. The Captains answered with five goals, three of which were from Tomlinson. Greensboro came back with two more making it 5-3 with 7:06 remaining in the first half. Quigley followed with two goals in the next minutes giving CNU a 7-3 lead. Greensboro and CNU each added another goal before the half ended making it an 8-5 halftime score.

Both teams traded goals for the 17 minutes of play in the second half until CNU went on a seven-goal streak ending with 23 seconds left in the game.

CNU led in shots with 36 to Greensboro's 20 while Greensboro led in groundballs with 15 over CNU's 12.

Gayle Robinson had seven saves in the game for the Captains while Jessica Catanzano had nine for the Pride.
