Box Score BURLINGTON, N.C. - The CNU baseball team remained unbeaten at the USA South tournament, and eliminated top-seeded N.C. Wesleyan, 13-7, in action Friday afternoon.
CNU built a 9-0 lead by the top of the fourth and went on to its third win in three games against the Bishops this season. N.C. Wesleyan had lost only one other regular-season game in the conference.
The Captains pounded out eight extra base hits among their 13-hit total for the game.
Luke Saunders had two hits, including a double and three RBIs, to help lead the CNU attack.
Ben Lenda had two hits, including his fifth home run and
Shannon Mark banged out two doubles.
Drue Vernon also homered for CNU, his first of the year.
The win improved CNU's record to 20-12, giving the Captains their 13th 20-win season in the last 14 years.
CNU will play third-seeded Shenandoah at noon Saturday.
