NEWPORT NEWS, VA- Christopher Newport University has been selected to host the 2010 NCAA Division III Field Hockey semi-finals and National Championship. Two semi-final games will be played on Saturday, November 20th, followed by the title game on Sunday, November 21st.
“We are very proud and excited to play host to the best Division III field hockey squads In the nation,” Director of Athletics C.J. Woollum said. “This marks the first time Christopher Newport will host a team national championship, and we are looking forward to this tremendous opportunity.”
Christopher Newport will also host the annual senior All Star Game, which features the top seniors from across the country in Division III field hockey. All of the action of the weekend will take place on CNU's newly-installed turf field.
Salisbury University is the defending national champion, following the Sea Gulls victory over Messiah last November 22nd. The 2009 semi-finals and title game were played at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts.
