ROCKY MOUNT, N.C, - Taking on USA South-leading North Carolina Wesleyan on its own home floor, the CNU men fell to the Bishops, 90-80, Saturday afternoon.
Down by three at halftime, 36-33, the Captains stayed close to NCW until midway through the second half. Down 56-53 with 11:25 to go, CNU saw the Bishops rattle off nine unanswered points to build the margin to 65-53 at the 9:29 mark. CNU never got closer than nine points again.
Conley Taylor led CNU with 25 points, including 10-11 from the free throw line.
Josh Russell added 14 points and
Mike Green 10. Trey Drake poured in 30 for N.C. Wesleyan.
CNU is now 9-11 overall and 4-4 in USA South play, while the Bishops are 11-9 and lead the conference at 7-1.
The Captains will take on Averett Wednesday night at the Freeman Center at 7:30.
