Four-Run Fifth Lifts Baseball Over Rowan, 5-3

Box Score   NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The CNU baseball team put together a four-run fifth inning and went on to a 5-3 win over Rowan Saturday at Captains Park.
  The Captains batted around and benefitted from a hit batter, wild pitch and Rowan error in grabbing a 5-2 lead.
  Drue Vernon, who led off the inning with one of his three hits, scored on a single by Parker Neal. After Steven Lindemuth scored on a wild pitch, Mike Romett drove in Luke Saunders who had singled and Connor Madden plated Romett with a base hit.
  Shannon Mark had two more hits for CNU and Madden had two as well.
  Sean Chitsaz picked up the win with six strong innings, allowing just three hits and two unearned runs. He also struck out five.
  Chris Malvagna recorded his second save in as many days.
  The Captains are now 3-2, having won three straight, and host Rowan again Sunday at 10 a.m. It was the season-opener for the Profs.
