NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Christopher Newport men's basketball team (4-2) will travel up I-95 for an evening matchup against the Mary Washington Eagles (5-2) on Monday. Tip is set for 5:00 pm on Monday and fans will be able to tune in live for a webcast on Captains Sports Live (www.cnusports.com) to watch the action from Fredericksburg.
Fans can also tune in to 99.1 FM on the CNU/Pepsi Radio Network for live play-by-play.
CNU is coming off a loss to nationally ranked St. Mary's over a week ago, and will have not played a game for 12 days after taking a break for finals. The Captains have been led by junior guard
Conley Taylor, averaging 20.7 points per game so far this season. Rookie
Tra Benefield is leading the way on the glass, with 6.7 rebounds per game and is second on the team in scoring at 15.5 points per.
Mary Washington has been led by Tad Dickman, with 12.4 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. E.J. Willis and Walt Smith are also in double figures for the Eagles. UMW is coming off an 83-75 setback at Frostburg State on December 3. The Eagles haven't played since, marking a 10-day layoff for the home team.
