NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Christopher Newport University field hockey team travels to Alexandria, Va. tomorrow to take on the Profs of Rowan University at Minnie Howard Field. The Captains are currently 14-2 while Rowan is 12-5 on the year.
CNU played Rowan for the first time in program history last year with the Profs coming out on top 2-0.
Katelyn Yandle (Portsmouth, Va.) is leading the team in goals with 14 and has added three assists and three defensive saves.
Caitlin Cahill (Virginia Beach, Va.) has added eight goals with four of them being game-winning goals.
Brittany Bradsher (Hampton, Va.) has only allowed 13 goals this season with a goals against average of 0.80 and a save percentage of .863.
The Profs are led by
Lauren Ross with 15 goals followed by
Nicole Valianti with 11.
Sam Williams has tallied two defensive saves while
Lisa Apt has a1.63 goals against average in the cage for the Profs.
Following the game the two teams will be coaching a field hockey clinic for local children of all ages.
