NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Mary Washington scored two second half goals to break a 1-1 halftime tie and score a 3-1 win over the Christopher Newport women's soccer team Wednesday night at Captains Field.
CNU took a 1-0 lead when Julie Jennings scored her first goal of the year, with help from Elise Haug.
But the Eagles made it 1-1 at halftime with a goal by Amy Olson in the 26th minute.
RMC got what would be the game-winner in the 57th minute by Nicole Dierkes and then iced it with a goal just more than a minute and a half from the end, by Allison DiPippa.
CNU out-shot the Eagles, 12-11, but still fell to 0-5-1. Mary Washington is 4-1-1.
The Captains host Marietta Saturday at 5 p.m. during Family Weekend.
