Box Score ASHLAND, Va. – Katelyn Yandle's goal a minute into overtime lifted the Christopher Newport's field hockey team to a 3-2 win at Randolph-Macon Wednesday afternoon.
Yandle converted on a pass from Stephanie Bair 1:02 into the OT to lift the Captains to their third win in five games.
Randolph-Macon took a 1-0 halftime lead on a goal by Kendall Lam, but Taylor Harrell pulled CNU even early in the second half with help from Yandle.
Just a minute and 20 seconds after Harrell's goal, Lam struck again to put the Yellow Jackets back on top, 2-1.
Caitlin Cahill converted another pass from Yandle in the 49th minute to even the score and, eventually, send the game into overtime.
Emma Stout made nine saves in goal.
The Captains host Washington & Lee Friday at 6 p.m., as part of Family Weekend.
