Box Score NEWPORT NEWS, VA -The Christopher Newport Field Hockey team defeated Johns Hopkins 3-1 on Saturday afternoon at Captains Field.
Amy Wharton's goal in the 30
th minute gave Johns Hopkins a 1-0 lead. The score was quickly tied 1-1 after a CNU goal by
Anne Gehring just 30 seconds later.
The game remained tied until the second half when
Kelsey Rigby scored an unassisted goal in the 55
th minute.
Just ten minutes later,
Chrissy Kurecki sealed the deal for the Captains with a goal of her own, making the score 3-1 with just four minutes left to play.
With the win the Captains improve to 11-3 while Johns Hopkins falls to 10-4. CNU field hockey will return to action on tomorrow, October 25th when they host the Wesley Wolverines at 2pm.
