NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The CNU volleyball team swept to two victories on Saturday to finish the CNU Invitational with a 3-1 record.
In the morning, the Captains defeated Randolph-Macon, 25-15, 20-25, 25-15, 25-15 with three players in double figures in kills.
Kara Elder had 16,
Caitlyn Jansen 14 and
Cory Harris 13 with Elder adding 19 digs and Harris 11.
Abby Hogge chipped in with 17 digs and
Mary Horner had 12.
Jessie Heavenrich contributed 31 assists and
Ryann Lowery 18. The loss dropped Randolph-Macon to 17-6.
In the afternoon CNU dispatched Salsibury, 25-12, 25-20, 25-16 as Jansen had 16 more kills and Harris 10. Hogge led in digs with 16, while Elder had 14 and Harris 11. Meanwhile, Heavenrich added 29 assists and Lowery 13. Salsibury is now 19-4.

CNU, now 22-4, travels west this weekend. At Bridgewater on Friday the Captains play the hosts at 4 p.m. and Southern Virginia at 6 p.m. Then Saturday CNU goes to Washington & Lee for an 11 a.m. match and meets Roanoke at 1 p.m.
