Christopher Newport University

Lou Serio is nearing a quarter-century commitment with Christopher Newport Athletics after seven years as a student-employee and 17 years as a full-time employee. Serio oversees the athletic materials needs for 24 team sports and numerous club teams. 

The 2016 recipient of the C.J. Woollum Distinguished Service Award, named for the former athletic director and basketball coach who originally hired Lou as a student manager while an undergraduate student. Woollum also tabbed Serio as the first to his position in 2000, becoming the full-time equipment manager for the department. 

Serio graduated Christopher Newport University with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management in 2000. Prior to attending CNU, he was a student manager for football, basketball, and baseball at Denbigh High School in Newport News. 

He currently resides with his family in Gloucester, Va.
