Daniel McCain joins the men's tennis coaching staff heading into the Spring 2024 season. 

Prior to joining the CNU staff, McCain has served as a volunteer assistant coach for the College of William & Mary women's program since 2020. An All-Conference player at the University of Michigan, McCain has been involved in high-level collegiate tennis since 1998. 

As a player, McCain earned All-Big Ten honors in both singles and doubles and also collected Academic All-Conference plaudits. He was ranked as high as No. 36 in the ITA National Rankings. Following his graduation, McCain served as an assistant tennis coach at Illinois State, helping lead the Redbirds to back-to-back conference titles and NCAA Tournament appearances. That experience would earn him a head coaching position with Cal State Bakersfield from 2007-10. 

Since, McCain moved across the country to take over as the Director of Tennis at the Cavalier Golf & Yacht Club in Virginia Beach from 2011-19. During his time, he was named the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Virginia Teaching Pro of the Year in 2012, the PTR Mid-Atlantic Teaching Pro of the Year in 2013 and 2014 PTR Member of the Year for the state of Virginia. In addition to his work locally, McCain also served as a Team USA Coach between 2015-19, working with the top nationally-ranked juniors (14 & under) at USTA Regional Training Centers. In 2015, he served as a USTA National Team Coach for the top nationally-ranked juniors at USTA National Championships.
