Sydney Watts joins the coaching staff as a student assistant coach after spending her first two years as a member of the defensive unit with the Captains.

During her time on the field, Watts broke into the starting lineup as a true freshman in 2020 and became just the second player in program history with at least three ground balls and a takeaway in each of her first two appearances. Although an injury eventually sidelined her, the White Hall, Maryland native appeared in four contests and made three starts at Christopher Newport.

In addition to her work on the defensive unit, Watts has also excelled in the classroom. A business major, she was named to the Academic All-Conference Team for her efforts in both 2020 and 2021.
