Kelly Lane begins her first season as an assistant coach with the Christopher Newport women’s lacrosse program after a standout four-year career with the Captains.
Lane begins her stint on the sidelines after excelling on the field from 2010-13. During her career, she helped guide CNU to four straight USA South Championships, including the program’s first-ever run to the NCAA Sweet 16 during the 2013 campaign. That year, she appeared in all 21 games while helping the team post a program-best 18-3 record.
On an individual level, Lane was a three-time All-Conference selection and earned a spot on the 2013 USA South All-Tournament team as well. Establishing herself as one of the most dominant defensive players in CNU history, she forced 67 career turnovers, which ranks third on the program’s all-time list. She also caused 29 during her senior campaign in 2013, which established a new school record and still ranks second on the program’s single-season list.
In addition to her efforts on the defensive side of the ball, Lane also ranks ninth in CNU history with 79 career draw controls and 73 games played.
A 2013 graduate of Christopher Newport, Lane was a perennial member of the Academic All-Conference team and eventually received her degree in biology.
