Rachel Ferri

Rachel Ferri returns to the Christopher Newport sideline for her second season in 2019-20. In her first year in Newport News, she helped develop a young roster including ten freshmen into a program ranked in the top-25 with an NCAA Tournament finish in the Round of 16. The Captains went 25-6 in her first season with just six returning players on the roster.

Ferri came to the Captains following a two-year stint with Springfield College in Massachusetts, where she served as Graduate Assistant Coach. Her extensive coaching experience also includes three seasons with Rhode Island College from 2013-16, where she helped guide the Anchorwomen to the NCAA Tournament. While on the staff, Ferri served as Recruiting Coordinator for two seasons.

A 2013 graduate of Catholic University, Ferri earned a Bachelor's degree in Biology. She went on to complete her Master of Education in Physical Education from Springfield College in 2018. As a student-athlete, Ferri was a member of back-to-back conference championship teams in 2012 and 2013. She helped to break numerous school records, including most wins in a season when the Cardinals won 27 games during a 27-2 run to the NCAA Second Round in her senior season.
