Christopher Newport University

Jayden Upshaw returns to the sidelines for his second year in 2026-27 after joining the Christopher Newport staff in the fall of 2025. 

Upshaw joined the CNU staff after serving as the High School Boys Basketball Coach at Greeley Central HS in 2023-24. He led the junior varsity team to their first winning season after having zero-win seasons years prior. 

As a player, Upshaw was named the Evergreen Male Athlete of the Year while competing at The Evergreen State College in Washington state. He served as team captain for both years competing for the Geoducks from 2022 to 2024. 

He also was named Ranger of the Year for Olympic College, helping lead the team to the second ever North Region Conference Championship. He led the team in assists and helped deliver them to the semifinals of the NWAC Championship during the 2021-22 season.
