2017-18 - Sophomore Season:
Cross Country - Came in 21st at the CAC Championships after finishing the 8k in 26:30.3 ... Added a second-place showing at the CNU Invitational and came in 12th in the 5k at the Mary Washington Opener ... Also took part in the 8k during the Cowbell Classic.
Track & Field - Secured All-Conference and All-Region plaudits in the 3000-steeplechase during the year ... Established a PR in the event while finishing second at the CAC Championships in 9:20.85 ... Also won the event during the Dr. Jack Toms Invitational and New Captains Classic ... Came in sixth in the 5000 during the CAC Outdoor Championships as well after crossing in 15:14.76 ... Had his top mark in the event during the Blue & Silver Challenge after crossing in 15:06.13 ... Came through with a pair of top-10 efforts during the CAC Indoor Championships as well ... Finished third in the 5000 (15:18.70) and ninth in the 3000 (8:54.91) ... Had a season-best mark of 8:50.79 in the 3000 during the CNU Holiday Open and collected his top time in the 5000 (15:11.94) during the Camel City Invitational ... Had 11 top-five finishes during the year.

2016-17 - Freshman Season:
Cross Country - Made an immediate impact during his first year with the Captains … Placed 22nd at the CAC Championships with a time of 27:24.1 … Added his top 8k clocking of the year at the CNU Invitational after finishing 14th in 26:48.0 … Finished sixth in the 6k at the William & Mary Invitational with a 20:03.1 clocking … Took part in the Don Cathcart Invitational as well.
Track & Field - Secured All-Conference and All-Region accolades for his efforts in the 3000-steeplechase … Posted a season-best time while placing second in the event at the CAC Outdoor Championships with a 9:31.20 clocking … Added a ninth-place showing in the 5000 during the CAC Indoor Championships as well … Registered his top mark in the 5000 (15:43.60) at the Vince Brown Invitational and his fastest time in the 3000 (9:22.32) during the Holiday Open … Also competed in the 1500 and 400-hurdles during the year … Collected five top-10 efforts during the season, including a victory in the steeplechase at the Commonwealth Duals.

At Warhill - Was as a multi-sport athlete for the Lions … Excelled in cross country and track & field … Collected first-team All-Regional and All-State accolades as a senior … Also was a two-time All-Conference honoree … Led the cross country team to the conference and regional championships as well as a sixth-place finish at states during his senior year … Also competed in basketball and soccer during his time at Warhill.
 
Personal - Daniel Allen Cretney is the son of Tim and Debbie Cretney … Has an older brother, TJ, and two sisters, Ryann and Megan … TJ played baseball at Mary Washington and Ryann ran cross country and track & field at Binghamton … Dustin Pedroia is his favorite athlete, and Louis Zamperini is the person in history he would most like to meet … His dream vacation would be a trip to Hawaii … Undecided on a major.
