Kacey Gibson

Kacey Gibson is in her first year of coaching as an assistant coach for Christopher Newport. 
 
Gibson’s running background started at Neshannock High School in New Castle, PA, where she was a three-time state runner-up in the 1,600 and 3,200 meters, qualified for the prestigious Footlocker National Championships in cross country (placing 12th in the nation for All-American honors), was a Pennsylvania state champion in cross country, and Pennsylvania Athlete of the Year in cross country and track.

In college at Florida State, then at Edinboro University, she ran the 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters on the track. She was part of two ACC cross country championship teams for FSU, made the NCAA Division I All-South Region cross country team, and was part of the South regional championship team and third-place NCAA cross country championship team. She later transferred to Edinboro where she earned All-PSAC, All-Atlantic Region, and NCAA Division II All-American honors.

Gibson moved to Newport News, VA to work with the United States Army at Fort Eustis as a contractor after completing a master's degree in sport psychology. She is a master resilience trainer-performance expert and works with soldiers from a mental standpoint to enhance performance. She is also a co-owner and lead sport and performance psychology consultant of The Performance Pursuit Consulting, LLC.

She holds a USATF Level I Coaching Certification.
