Danny Feldman begins his first year as the head coach of the Christopher Newport cross country program in 2019-20 and also serves as a track & field assistant with the Captains after building an extensive résumé filled with championship-level experience at multiple NCAA institutions.

Feldman, who most recently served as an assistant coach at Amherst since 2017, has helped guide three different schools to podium finishes at the NCAA Championships. During his most recent stint with the Mammoths, he helped the men's cross country team place fourth at the 2017 national meet before finishing sixth during the 2018 competition.

Over the past two years, the Amherst men laid claim to a pair of NESCAC Championships while also grabbing the 2018 New England Regional title. On an individual level, Feldman helped coach six All-Americans across both genders during the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

In addition to his efforts at Amherst, Feldman also served as an assistant coach at Washington University in St. Louis during the 2014-15 campaign. During that run, both the men's and women's cross country squads placed fourth at the NCAA Championships. Equally impressive in the spring, the women's track & field team registered a third-place showing at the national meet.

Along with his work at the Division III level, Feldman assisted with the cross country and track & field programs at Northern Arizona during the 2013-14 season. Making his mark on the perennial power, he helped the men's cross country team finish second at the NCAA Division I National Championships. Meanwhile, the track & field teams also swept both the indoor and outdoor Big Sky titles.

Feldman also boasts extensive experience as a successful high school head coach. Most recently, he oversaw the cross country and track & field programs at Covenant of the Sacred Heart in New York from 2015-17. During that time, he coached back-to-back runner-up finishes at the New York State Championships while also serving as the conference's track & field commissioner.

Feldman's coaching career began in 2012 when he spent a year as the head track & field coach at Amherst Regional High School. During that time, his student-athletes broke four school records.

Prior to his professional career, Feldman competed in track & field at Capital Athletic Conference rival Mary Washington. He graduated in 2010 with bachelor's degrees in Business Management and German before earning his master's in Community Health Education at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst in 2013.
