Wayne Vick joined the CNU Softball staff in the 2016 season. Prior to arriving in Newport News, Vick served as a coach with one of the top travel teams in the area for over a decade. While working with the Virginia Legends, he coached several Players of the Year, Gatorade Pitchers of the Year, and a few players who had the opportunity to try out for the USA National Team.
During his time on the AAU circuit, Vick led his teams in some of the top tournaments in the nation, including the Independence Day Fireworks Tournament in Boulder, Colorado, the Louisville Slugger in Chicago, and the Diamond 9 Sun City in Florida.
Vick's squads also qualified every year for the PGF Nationals in California, including several teams that registered top-20 finishes. Along with coaching the 18 and under teams, he also helped lead the younger age groups to several top-10 finishes in the country, including an appearance in the National Championship Game.
