Chris McHugh enters his first year as an assistant coach with Christopher Newport men’s soccer in 2018.
Prior to joining the sidelines at CNU, McHugh served as head men’s soccer coach at Moody Bible Institute for six seasons from 2012-17. Under his leadership, Moody made three appearances in NCCAA Division II National Championship games, claiming back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2013.
McHugh was recognized as the 2012 NSCAA/NCCAA Division II National Coach of the Year, and the program produced two NSCAA/NCCAA Division II National Players of the Year during his tenure.
Additionally, McHugh served as an assistant professor at Moody, and has previously coached at Montclair State University, along with high schools and youth clubs in New York and New Jersey.
McHugh earned a master's degree in Teaching-Physical Education from Montclair State University, and a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. He holds a NSCAA Advanced National Diploma, NSCAA Goalkeeping I and II Diplomas, and USSF "D" coaching license.
McHugh and his wife, Sara, reside in Yorktown and are the parents of two daughters, Emsely and Adelaide.
