Will Cogan begins his first year as a student assistant with the Captains after wrapping up a standout career with the program in 2019.

One of the most accomplished defenders in program history, Cogan spent three seasons anchoring the back line. During his career, he started 53 games, which marked the seventh-highest total by a Captain and the third-most by a defender. A reliable presence, he earned a start in his final 33 consecutive games, marking the 10th-longest "Iron Man" streak in school history.

Making the most of his time on the field, Cogan finished his tenure with 78 caused turnovers. That total places him seventh on the program's all-time charts, while his 1.44 takeaways-per-game average marks the fifth-best rate by a Captain.

In addition to his individual accomplishments, Cogan helped lead Christopher Newport to one of the finest stretches in program history. During his three years with the team, he guided the Captains to 38-18 record, including a run to the third round of the NCAA Tournament in 2018. Along the way, the Captains were consistently ranked in the USILA National Coaches Poll, climbing as high as 13th in the country.
