CJ Buechner returns to the Christopher Newport men’s lacrosse program as a team manager for the 2019 campaign.
 
During his first two years at CNU, Buechner appeared in five games with the Captains as a backup goalie. Helping the squad during the 2015 and 2016 campaigns, he compiled a 6.14 goals-against-average and a .700 save percentage during his time between the pipes. He eventually finished with 21 total saves, including a career-high 10 during his collegiate debut at Methodist on March 4, 2015.
 
Following his time on the field, Buechner was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on January 1, 2018. After six weeks of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, he has returned to the men’s lacrosse program while looking to complete his last undergraduate semester as a history major in 2019.
