Cody Hammock joined the Christopher Newport University Sports Medicine team as an assistant athletic trainer in July 2024.
A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, Hammock previously worked at Averett University, where he provided coverage for football, men's soccer, women's basketball, baseball, and co-ed golf. He earned his Master of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Lynchburg in May 2021, following a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Greensboro College in May 2019.Â
Hammock gained valuable clinical experience with Hampden-Sydney College's football, men's soccer, golf, and men's lacrosse programs during the spring of 2021. His previous experience also includes working with Appomattox County High School teams, Liberty University club sports, Lynchburg field hockey, and Greensboro women's lacrosse, volleyball, and men's wrestling teams.Â
While at Greensboro College, Hammock was a member of the football and men's lacrosse teams, earning USA South Academic All-Conference honors in 2019.Â
He is currently employed with Pivot Physical Therapy, an Athletico company, and is a member of the NATA and the VATA Leadership Academy. Hammock is also certified through the BOC and licensed in the state of Virginia.Â
