Mark Powell begins his first season on the staff of Art Link, leading the Captains defensive line and special teams unit. Powell comes to CNU from Marshall University in West Virginia, where he was a defensive graduate assistant coach working primarily with the linebacking corps.

Powell was a part of the Villanova University coaching staff prior to that, serving as a defensive assistant in his first season at Villanova in 2015, and then moved over to the offensive side of the ball last season coaching tight ends.

He arrived at Villanova from Yale University, where he helped on the defensive side of the ball and was a special teams assistant in 2014. During the 2013 season, Powell was a defensive assistant at his alma mater, Lafayette College in Easton, Pa. Â Powell graduated from Lafayette in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history.
