Justin Wood

JUSTIN WOOD is well known to CNU football fans. He was an All-American linebacker as a student-athlete, has served as an assistant coach, and this season,begins his second year as the Captains Defensive Coordinator.

Wood is beginning his sixth season on the CNU coaching staff. Wood returned to CNU in 2010 after spending several years teaching locally. He oversees the entire defensive effort with a special emphasis on the linebacking corps.

Wood, one of the top defensive players in Captains football history, was a student assistant coach in 2006 and then assisted with CNU linebackers in the 2007 season.

The Hampton native and Bethel High School graduate became the second CNU player ever named All-American in 2005. He still holds many CNU records for tackles after finishing with 370 in his career. He also made a school-record 111 stops in 2004. Wood was a First Team All-USA South linebacker in his last three seasons as a Captain, and earned Second Team honors as a freshman.

He and his wife, Tracy, are the parents of a two-year-old daughter, Allie.
