Chris Ellis is heading into his fourth season on the CNU sidelines, working primarily with the defensive line of the Captains.

Ellis is a former NFL and Virginia Tech defensive lineman. He was selected all-ACC as a defensive end with the Hokies, and played in the Sugar and Orange Bowls during his collegiate career.

He was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the third round of the 2008 draft, and played in the NFL for parts of five seasons with the Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers. His professional career concluded in 2012 when he played for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League.

Ellis is a native of Hampton and played at Bethel High School. He began his coaching career at Frostburg State, where he was a coaching intern during the 2013 season.Â
