2018 - Sophomore - Started all nine games as a tight end during his second year with the Captains … Hauled in 13 receptions for 99 yards over the course of the season … Had a season-high 28 yards on three catches at TCNJ on November 3 … Added to the squad’s program-record total of 478 yards through the air against the Lions … Also had three receptions and 25 yards during a non-conference win at Hampden-Sydney on September 8 …  Notched a season-long 13-yard catch at Rowan on September 29 … Hauled in two receptions during conference battles against Salisbury on October 6 and Wesley on November 10 … Also secured passes in wins over Southern Virginia on September 1 and Kean on October 27 … Helped the Captains rank second in the NJAC with an average of 259.6 passing yards per game in 2018.

2017 - Freshman - Played in six games as a tight end during his debut campaign … Hauled in a pair of passes, including a two-yard touchdown in the opener at Southern Virginia … Also secured a five-yard reception at Salisbury … Assisted as a blocker as well while helping the Captains rank first in the NJAC in passing yards per game (264.5).

At Clarke County - Played both ways for the Eagles as a linebacker and tight end all four years under head coach Chris Parker ... Won four straight district championships ... As a sophomore, earned second team All-District honors ... Picked up first team All-District as a linebacker and tight end as a junior, while also collecting first team All-Conference and All-State honors at both positions ... Added first team All-District, All-Conference, and All-State honors as a senior ... Also played basketball, and twice earned All-District honors.

Personal - Brett Joseph McDonald is the son of Chris McDonald and Jamie McDonald … Has a brother, Sean, who played football at Randolph-Macon … Von Miller is his favorite athlete, and Luke Combs is his favorite musician … “Friday Night Lights” is his favorite movie, and “Friends” is his favorite TV show … His dream vacation would be to anywhere tropical … Majoring in communications.
