Nancy Billger

Nancy Billger, a former Division I and Division III coach in both field hockey and women's lacrosse, takes over as head coach of those two sports which are being added to the Christopher Newport University athletic program this year.

A graduate of Old Dominion University, Billger was recruited as a field hockey player but wound up playing four years of lacrosse under Sue Stahl, the head coach of the U.S. National Team.

After graduating from ODU in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Medicine, Billger moved on to Davidson College where she was head lacrosse coach and assistant field hockey coach for the 1994-95 season. She then went to Division III Susquehanna University, holding the same two positions for two years.

She most recently completed a Master of Science degree in Exercise Science at the University of Oregon in 1999. While at Oregon, she worked extensively with the Ducks' football program as well as the women's soccer team and other sports in strength and conditioning.
