    Assistant Coach
Jessica Wiggins joined the Christopher Newport field hockey program as an assistant coach in 2023.

Boasting an impressive résumé as both a player and instructor, Wiggins brings an extensive background in goalkeeping to the Captains. Since 2021, she has served as the Director of Goalkeeping for Stick Power Field Hockey. In that role, she has developed the curriculum and training for all of the club's goalies between the ages of 7 and 18.

Prior to her professional endeavors, Wiggins played collegiately at the College of William & Mary. During her time with the Tribe, she helped lead the team to the first Colonial Athletic Association Championship in program history after winning the title in 2018. Just three days after claiming the league crown, the squad also posted the school's first win in the NCAA Tournament after knocking off Monmouth, 3-2, in an overtime marathon during the opening round of the national playoffs.

On an individual level, Wiggins saw game action in 2017 and 2018. Making the most of her time on the field, she helped polish off a pair of shutout victories in 2017, which helped William & Mary climb as high as 18th in the NFHCA National Coaches Poll. Later, in her final season, she registered two saves in the NCAA Tournament against North Carolina, who went on to win the national championship.

Along with her work on the field, Wiggins was also named to the NFHCA National All-Academic Team for her performance in the classroom. She eventually received her bachelor's degree in kinesiology and health sciences from William & Mary before earning her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Virginia Commonwealth.

Prior to her collegiate career, Wiggins was an award-winning standout at Warhill High School. During her time with the Lions, she secured All-Conference honors, established a new program record for career shutouts, and led the team to the school's first-ever postseason appearances in 2013 and 2014.
