Jessica Weiss

In her seven seasons as an assistant coach with the Christopher Newport field hockey team, Jessica Weiss has been an invaluable asset while guiding the program into the national spotlight as a perennial NCAA Tournament participant.

During her time with the team, Weiss has helped the squad earn five postseason appearances, including the program’s first-ever run to the Final Four in 2013. Over that time, CNU has compiled an incredible 106-29 record, highlighted by a program-best 21-2 mark two years ago. Christopher Newport has also laid claim to a pair of CAC regular season titles since joining the vaunted league in 2013.

In addition to her work with the Captains, Weiss has also spent time coaching for the United State Field Hockey Futures program while serving as the Goalkeeper Coach with StickPower Field Hockey in Newport News.

Prior to her time in Virginia, Weiss served one season as an assistant coach at Susquehanna University after spending four years competing for the Crusaders. During her time on the field, she was named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Academic Squad, the Middle Atlantic Conference All-Academic Team, and the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll. She graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and a minor in Information Systems.

A native of Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania, she still holds the record for shutouts in a season at William Tennent High School.

Along with her extensive work as a field hockey coach, Weiss also served as an assistant with the CNU women’s lacrosse team for four seasons. During that time, the Captains advanced to the NCAA Tournament each year and secured four consecutive USA South championships.
