Jessica Morelos returns as an assistant coach with the Christopher Newport field hockey team after serving in the same capacity from 2003-13. During her 11 seasons as an assistant coach, she has helped oversee an incredible transformation by the Captains while helping the program establish itself as one of the most accomplished squads in the nation.

Since arriving in Newport News, Morelos has led the Captains to eight NCAA Tournament appearances, including five runs to the Sweet 16 and a trip to the 2013 Final Four. Over that time, CNU has compiled a 149-38 record and secured no fewer than 12 victories in any of her seasons with the team.

Prior to joining the coaching ranks, Morelos was a record-setting player at Mary Washington. Known as Morris in college, she was named the Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Year as a senior in 2001. During her time at UMW, she established career records for goals (59), assists (27), and points (145). Eventually earning a sport in the school's Athletics Hall of Fame, she was an All-American as a junior and senior and set the Eagles’ single-season scoring mark with 23 goals in her final campaign.

A fantastic high school player as well, she was recognized as one of the top-100 athletes in Virginia high school history by the Daily Press.

A graduate of Mary Washington with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Morelos has also served as an assistant in the Christopher Newport athletic communications office. During that time, she received several awards from CoSIDA for her achievements in graphic design and publications.
