  • Title
    Assistant Coach

After establishing herself as one of Christopher Newport’s most accomplished field hockey players, Ashley Hay has spent four years as an assistant coach with the program and guided CNU to new heights during that time.

In her four years as a coach, Hay has helped the Captains earn four NCAA Tournament berths, including a pair of runs to the Sweet 16. Over that time, CNU has compiled an incredible 60-16 record, highlighted by a program-best 17-2 mark during the 2012 campaign.

During her playing career, Hay became the program’s third All-American after garnering second-team nods from the NFHCA and WomensFieldHockey.com as a senior in 2007. In addition to her national honor, she was a first-team All-Region and All-State selection as well as an NFHCA Senior All-Stars pick.

On September 19, 2004, Hay also recorded the sixth hat-trick in CNU history after scoring three times against Sweet Briar.

In addition to her work with the Captains, she has also served as head coach of the U.S. Field Hockey Olympic Development Program at the CNU site.

A 2008 graduate of Christopher Newport, Hay received a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work with minors in Psychology and Sociology. She also earned her Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from VCU in 2009.
