2008 - Junior Year - Earned honorable mention all-USA South honors...Collected four hits against Ramapo and York (Pa.) as well as three each versus Methodist and N.C. Wesleyan in the USA South Tournament, helping the Captains to the title...Also had two hits nine other times...Homered in games against Virginia St. and Methodist...Led CNU in stolen bases with 16 in 17 attempts with three against Castleton St. and two in games with Arcadia and Ramapo...Led CNU in walks with 28.
2007 - Sophomore Year - Added pitching to his resume and had a fine season both on the mound and in the field...Earned honorable mention all-USA South honors in centerfield...Tied for second on the squad with a .315 batting average...Produced 11 multi-hit games, including three each against Hampden-Sydney and Greensboro in the USA South Tournament...Also had three RBIs in the HSC game...On the mound, he made seven appearances with a 2.45 ERA in 22 innings. He struck out 29 in that time and walked only six...Got a win over Randolph-Macon with a six-inning, four-hit, one run effort.
2006 - Freshman Year - After missing his first year due to injury, he opened his career with a great season, earning USA South Rookie of the Year honors...Paced the Captains with a .361 batting average, including 14 multi-hit games...Fell one short of the school record with a five-hit game against Methodist and added four hits versus Ferrum... Also contributed three hits each in games with N.C. Wesleyan, Lynchburg and Ferrum twice...Closed the year by going 32-80, a .400 average, over the last 18 games...Added three RBIs against Randolph-Macon in the season opener and had two each in games with Virginia Wesleyan and Ferrum...Also drilled two doubles in the Ferrum game...Stole ten bases in ten tries.
2005 - Freshman Year - Injured, did not play.
AT POTOMAC - Regional Player of the Year as a senior, as well as Cedar Run District Player of the Year. Was a first team all-district player for two years for coach Covington and twice an all-area player as well as area Player of the Year in his senior season.
He won the team's Hustle Award twice and was Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year as a senior. A member of Youth Salute and DECA.
PERSONAL - Michael Thomas Giarrizzi was born Oct. 15, 1985, in Alexandria, Va. He is majoring in Business Marketing and is the son of Frank and Lori Giarrizzi. Has two brothers, Daniel, 19 and Tony, 26.
