2011 - Junior Season - A third team ABCA All-American selection and also a first team All-Region, and first team USA South All-Conference seclection in his second year with the Captains...Second on the team with a .371 batting average...Scored a team-high 51 runs with 65 hits and 45 RBI...Hit eight homeruns  and went 11-for-12 in stolen base attempts...Led the team with 148 assists...Went 4-for-4 with two doubles and a three-run homerun, five RBI, and three runs against Virginia Wesleyan...

2010 - SOPHOMORE SEASON – Played in six games, making three starts for the Captains…Scored runs in the Piedmont, Rowan, and Bridgewater games…Drove in 5 RBI and blasted a home run in the Rowan game which the Captains won 15-2…Was 2-for-2 on the basepaths…

Before CNU - Played one year at Virginia Tech seeing action in six games...Drove in a run against Clemson..

AT MENCHVILLE - Earned all-state honors twice, was all-region twice and all-Peninsula District three times for coach Phil Forbes...Also district wrestling champion once.

PERSONAL - Matthew David Shoemaker was born Sept. 7, 1988 in Williamsburg, Va...He is a Political Science major and the son of Richard Shoemaker and Mary Sykes...Has three brothers, Richard, 23; Andrew, 12 and Trevor, 6 and a sister Lauren, 8... Previously attended Virginia Tech.
