2014 - Junior Season - Ranked third on the team with 17 goals and fourth with 24 points … Appeared in 14 games and earned 11 starts … Led the squad’s comeback effort against No. 2 Salisbury on April 2 with three second-half goals, which lifted CNU to an 8-7 victory … Added a season-high five points, including four goals, against Methodist on March 26 … Scored twice and added a pair of assists against St. Mary’s on April 12 … Also added two goals at Virginia Wesleyan on March 12 … Posted at least one score in six straight contests from March 26 - April 12 … Chipped in with at least one point in 11 of his 14 appearances, including the final nine games of the year … Contributed 13 ground balls and added a pair of caused turnovers during the year as well.
2013 - Sophomore Season - Pieced together one of the finest campaigns in CNU history during his second year with the Captains ... Started all 17 games and led the team with 54 points ... Posted 35 assists, which set a new single-season program record ... Also tallied 19 goals during the year ... Broke CNU’s single-game record with seven assists during a 21-5 victory over FDU-Florham on March 11 ... Also added six helpers at Randolph-Macon on February 27 and contributed four against Randolph on February 23 and Greensboro on April 16 ... Had at least two assists in eight games during the year, including a pair against Stevenson in the NCAA Tournament on May 8 ... Scored his first hat-trick of the season in the opener at Washington & Lee on February 16 before matching that effort against Mary Washington on March 2 and Saint Vincent on April 13 ... Had at least one point in all but two games during the year ... Also tallied 25 ground balls, including three against Ithaca on March 14 and Virginia Wesleyan on April 3.

Personal - John Thomas Thompson was born on February 2, 1993 in Richmond, Va...He is the son of Mike and Christy Thompson and has one brother, Mikey, and one sister, Jackie...His grandfather played collegiate lacrosse at Duke and Virginia, his father played football at Hampden Sydney, and his brother Mikey played collegiate lacrosse at Virginia before joining the CNU coaching staff...A communications major.
