Rusty Ingram begins his first season as an assistant coach with Christopher Newport baseball after an illustrious career as a high school head coach in the Hampton Roads area. Ingram served as head coach of a varsity baseball team for each of the last 31 years, including 15 seasons at the helm of York High.Â
Working in the public school system, Ingram compiled an overall record of 469-201 for a winning percentage of 70%. With the Falcons, Ingram guided York to five state tournaments, three state finals and the 1989 Group AA state championship. He also served as mentor of the Denbigh High School program for 17 years, leading the Patriots to a number of district titles and AAA state tournament appearances in 1996 and 2007.Â
Widely considered one of the top prep pitching coaches in the state, Ingram will serve as the Captains' pitching coach in 2016.
Ingram currently resides in York, Va. with his wife, Tammy. Their son, Coleman, is a member of the Bridgewater College football team.Â
