Harkey Named State Farm Student-Athlete of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Christopher Newport women's lacrosse player Meghan Harkey has been named the State Farm Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of April 5th, 2010.

Harkey, a junior from Purcellville, VA, led the Captains over the weekend in a win over Agnes Scott, 23-1, at Captains Field. Harkey scored two goals and had 10 assists in the game giving her 12 points which was just enough to break the CNU single-game points record.

The previous record, 11 points, was held by Wendy Wilson for her performance against Ferrum in 2001.

Harkey has 32 goals and 24 assists in nine games during the 2010 season.
