2012-13 - Junior Season - Earned second-team All-Conference accolades for his performance during the year...Also named to the USA South All-Sportsmanship Team as well as the conference’s All-Tournament squad...Posted 12 singles victories, including eight straight from March 16-April 12...Spent most of the year as the No. 3 singles player but posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory in the No. 2 spot at Averett on March 29...Notched 12 doubles victories, including five straight with Will Sloan from April 6-13...Also won seven duals with Lloyd Luck during the early part of the spring season.

2011-12 - Sophomore Season - Posted a 10-9 singles record at No. 4 singles with losses only to Division I programs and nationally ranked Division III opponents...Was a perfect 5-0 at the No. 2 and No. 3 singles positions...Recorded an impressive 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 victory against 25th ranked Mary Washington......Held the second longest winning streak on the team winning eight matches in a row toward the end of the regular season...Went 9-4 in doubles action with partner Gian Heyer with match wins against Division III nationally ranked Cal Lutheran, Occidental and NC Wesleyan.

2010-11 - Freshman Season - Had an 8-5 singles record with one loss to Division I Old Dominion and three to nationally ranked Division III schools...Recorded a 6-4, 7-5 win versus Salisbury...Posted a 9-4 doubles record with a win against Division II Mercyhurst...Played eight doubles matches with partner Matthew King where the duo posted a 6-2 record.

At Western Albemarle - Played three years of tennis for coach Charles IX and was selected as MVP...Also was a three time State Champion and selected to the first team All-State three years in a row...His sophomore and junior years he was selected as the District and Central Virginian Player of the Year...Won the National President’s Award for Community Service...In 2008 his family was awarded the United States Tennis Association Family of the year.

Personal - Josef Paul Salvitore Manilla was born on October 29, 1991 in Greenwood, Virginia...He is the son of Ron Manilla, a PTR International Master Professional, and Diana Marchibroda...He has two brothers, Dom, who is the Head Women’s Tennis Coach at Old Dominion University, and Danny, who is a former ODU Tennis Player...He has one sister, Anna, who works for the United States Tennis Association...His favorite sports personality is Fernando Torres...An Ancient history major.
