2011 - SENIOR SEASON - Became the first Captain to earn All-America honors three times in his career for soccer...Awarded Second Team All-USA South honors...Led CNU in scoring with 13 goals...Recorded a hat trick against Rutgers-Newark...Scored game winning goals against Averett, Rutgers-Newark and NC Wesleyan...Added on two assists overall...

2010 - JUNIOR SEASON - Received All-American honors for the second straight season...Awarded First Team All-USA South honors for forwards...Tied with Brian Lybert in scoring with ten goals...Scored game winning goals against Trinity and NC Wesleyan...Recorded eight assists overall during his third season...

2009 - SOPHOMORE SEASON - Became just the second CNU soccer player ever to be named All-American, and the first as early as his sophomore season...USA South Player of the Year...Also first team all-region and first team all-Virginia Division II-III...Led CNU in scoring for the second straight year as the Captains reached the NCAA Elite 8 for the second straight season...Knocked in two goals against Ferrum and had gamewinners versus Kean and York (Pa.).

2008 - FRESHMAN SEASON - Became CNU’s leading scorer with 16 goals in his rookie season...Scored twice each against Walsh and Averett and had game-winning goals against Medaile, Walsh, Virginia Wesleyan, Ferrum and Drew...Scored in the NCAA Tournament, as CNU reached the Elite 8, against Drew and Messiah.

AT JAMESTOWN - Along with teammate Danny Franklin, Mattheisen also helped lead Jamestown to a District, Regional and State Championship in 2008 ... He was a First Team All-Bay Rivers pick from 2006-2008 ... First Team All-Region those same years as well ... Honorable Mention All-State in 2006 and 2007 and was a First Team All-State choice in 2008 ... Also played basketball.

PERSONAL - John Winston Mattheisen was born on October 5, 1989 in Norfolk, VA ... He is the son of Steve and Martha Mattheisen ... Has one brother, Graydon, 18 and one sister, Erin, 24 ... Majoring in Communications...Chose CNU because of its soccer program.
