BOSTON, Mass. -- After leading the nationally-ranked Christopher Newport men's soccer to a pair of wins at home this weekend, senior Riley Usher was named the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Usher scored three goals in two games including the game-winning goal against Moravian in the season opener. 

Usher picks up his first career C2C Offensive Player of the Week certificate after a breakout weekend that saw him score the first three goals of his career. 

In the season opener against Moravian, Usher tied the game with a penalty kick in the 34th minute of action and added the game-winning strike in the 44th minute just before halftime. The Toano, Va. native finished into the left side of the goal after snagging a loose ball off a deflection for the winner. Usher just missed a first-half hat trick when he blistered a blazing liner off the left post that somehow ricocheted back into the field of play. 

Taking on Kean in game two, Usher added his third goal of the young season on a beautiful combination that set the forward free for a breakaway score. Alex Stell opened the play with a pass outside for Tim McGuire and the second pass was played ahead of Usher and his defender for the senior to sprint by for the score. 

The Captains' offense scored 10 goals over the first two games to establish a new high in the Chezem era. CNU has not scored more goals in back-to-back games since opening the 2018 campaign with 12 goals against Greensboro and Pfeiffer. 

CNU will return to action at home this weekend with a pair of home games against Rutgers-Camden (Sat, 2:30 p.m.) and William Paterson (Sun, 3:30 p.m.).
