Simara Alexander earned Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week recognition on Monday. CNU went 2-1 behind the senior middle blocker from Burke, Va. with wins against the host William Paterson Pioneers and the Centenary (NJ) Cyclones.
Alexander led the team with 3.09 kills per set after piling up 34 total kills in three matches away from home. She logged a career-high tying 15 kills in a loss to William Smith before adding nine against William Pateson and 10 more versus Centenary.
Effective at the net, Alexander hit at a .306 clip during the week including a .563 attack percentage against Centenary on Saturday. Additionally, she added three aces, 11 blocks, and seven digs at the William Paterson tournament.
Alexander is the first CNU player to be recognized this season as Player of the Week from the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference.
CNU will return to action this weekend at the East Texas Baptist Tiger Invite. The Captains will first play McMurry University at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, September 18 before taking on the No. 4-ranked host Tigers at 4:30 p.m. The trip will culminate in a matchup against Hendrix at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 19.
