COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- With the 2026 campaign quickly approaching, three members of the Christopher Newport field hockey team were named to the NFHCA National Collegiate Watchlist as Caroline Hughlett, Courtney Hughlett, and Lindsey Loar received the recognition from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association on Thursday morning.

The Watchlist recognizes student-athletes who have demonstrated a high level of achievement and are considered among the nation's top standouts with the strongest potential to earn regional and national awards during the upcoming season.

The Hughlett twins both earned the honor for the third straight year, joining former teammate Lily Kerr as the only Captains to receive the recognition three times. Meanwhile, Loar was celebrated for the first time during her decorated career.

One of the nation's most dynamic playmakers, Caroline Hughlett enters her senior campaign after stockpiling awards throughout a dominant junior season. Last fall, she hauled in first-team All-American honors after collecting 23 points, including a career-high nine assists. She also picked up first-team All-State and All-Region citations while depositing seven goals, including three penalty strokes.

In her career, Hughlett already sits fifth in program history with 22 assists and nine game-winning goals. The three-time All-State selection has also converted seven penalty strokes, which is four shy of matching Marcella Sabbagh's all-time school standard.

Solidifying her spot as one of the country's elite standouts, Courtney Hughlett was a unanimous first-team All-American last fall after receiving top accolades from the NFHCA and Synapse Sports. Establishing a new school record with 15 assists, she was also named the NFHCA Region VI and VaSID All-State Player of the Year. Overall, she finished with 27 total points, including a career-high six goals.

Rewriting the history books, Hughlett already owns the program's career record with 34 assists, breaking the old mark of 33 set by CNU Hall of Famer Belle Tunstall from 2011-14. Additionally, she sits 22nd on the all-time charts with 56 career points, including 11 goals.

Tormenting the opposition from her perch on the forward line, Loar was a third-team All-American in 2025 while also receiving first-team All-State and All-Region nods. During her junior year, she deposited 14 goals, which equaled the eighth-most in program history and placed her 49th on the national charts. Along the way, she drove home five game-winning tallies, including the overtime clincher against No. 17 Lynchburg in the NCAA Quarterfinals on November 15.

A lethal force on the offensive end, Loar boasts a career 0.51 goals-per-game average, which is the ninth-highest in school history. Her 25 total strikes also place her 16th on the all-time leaderboard, while her eight game-winning goals are tied for the 10th-most by a Captain.

Christopher Newport will open up the 2026 season on September 1 when the fourth-ranked Captains travel to Lexington, Virginia for a 3 p.m. battle with No. 23 Washington and Lee.
