ARLINGTON, Va. -- With just two weeks left in the regular season, the 14th-ranked Christopher Newport Captains will open up a busy four-game week on Monday afternoon at Marymount University. First pitch against the Saints is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
The Captains are also slated to travel to N.C. Wesleyan for a 4:00 p.m. first pitch on Wednesday, April 22 before returning home to entertain Hampden-Sydney College in a 3:00 p.m. matchup at Captains Park. CNU will stay home for Senior Day on Saturday, April 25 against nationally-ranked Salisbury University at 2:00 p.m.Â
The busy week sees the Captains enter the matchup at Marymount with a 23-9 overall record including three straight. CNU is 5-2 on the road and 16-6 in home games in 2026.Â
The road trip to Northern Virginia pits Christopher Newport against former conference foes from Marymount University for the 20th time. The Captains are 16-3 all-time against the Saints with a win streak of nine heading into Monday.Â

Junior
Aaron Maxie is hitting .410 with a six-game hitting streak including all five games he has started since returning from injury. The first baseman drove in six with a grand slam in the Captains' last game against Regent, going 3-for-3 with a walk for his second straight three-hit game.
Senior
Sam Benedict is leading the team with a 12-game hitting streak for the longest roll of the season, matching his brother's 12-gamer earlier in the season. Benedict is hitting .398 with 41 hits in 103 at-bats and boasts a .443 on-base percentage heading into monday.
Jake Benedict leads the team with 50 hits and has a .365 average with 18 extra-base hits including a season-high six homers.Â
On the mound,
Jackson Baird (4-3, 3.04 ERA) and
Cooper Newell (5-0, 3.14 ERA) are leading the rotation with
Ryan Morrison (3-1, 4.98 ERA) rounding out a strong veteran contingent. Junior
Mitchell Mortensen has also picked up five wins this year, going 5-0 with a 1.46 ERA in 13 appearances including three starts.Â
Two Marymount players are hitting over .400 with a third hitting .395 heading into Monday's matchup. Evan Schick leads the squad with a .442 average and Francis Swekosky is adding a .421 marker in 31 starts out of the 32 games played. Quincy Via rounds out the trio with a .395 average as one of four players to start all 32 games so far for the Saints. Swekosky leads the team in RBI with 30 while Via has been a speedster with 42 stolen bases in 46 attempts this year.Â
Following the Monday afternoon matchup, the Captains will return to action on Tuesday at N.C. Wesleyan. The game time has been moved up to 4:00 p.m.Â
